If you are thinking about getting a serger, you really should just jump and do it.

Janome and others are making really excellent, affordable sergers that are easy to use..

I hesitated for months before I bought mine, as I was afraid of the learning curve; a serger is a completely different animal than a sewing machine and in most serger reviews that I read, I saw folks mentioning the difficulty in threading.  My sweetheart finally put an end to my hemming and hawing over the decision and said "just Buy one now."

Only minutes after opening my new serger's box, I was shocked and amazed to be serging-  not trying to understand how it worked; not even just playing with it, but actually serging- my very first project, completed within an hour of opening the box.  I had never used any serger or read how to do so before opening this box and the easy to understand manual.

I am a Janome loyalist after having bad experiences learning to sew on another sewing machine (I didn't know how bad it was until I replaced that poorly designed machine with a Janome and my sewing changed from frustrating to fun).  I have also seen and experienced the poor quality and lack of features standard on other machines, even by better known and once well respected manufacturers.

So I knew that this inexpensive little machine could be counted on for quality.  But after all my hesitation, I was stunned and amazed at how easy it was to learn to serge on this entry machine. We bought the Juno; here is the link to my Janome Juno 3434d review at Associated Content.

The information on THIS page refers to ALL of the entry level Janome sergers.

All the thread paths are clearly labelled and threading them from scratch is accomplished easily.

But they come already threaded and if you just tie the new thread on, you rarely have to rethread from scratch anyway.

I quickly learned how to use my serger and from day one have used this machine every single day.  When I finally got around to sitting down to learn to change the setting to do a rolled hem (which i thought would be a bother), I was again amazed that this switcheroo takes less than 10 seconds and is as easy as pushing a button and moving a switch.

And then I was making perfect rolled hems from the start!  I made a dozen dinner napkins and another dozen beautiful handkerchiefs for gifts all in about 45 minutes or less.

Other sergers require changing the throat plate, but all Janomes have a simple switch to change operations between serging and rolled hemming.

The clothes and bags that I sew now have perfect, professional seams and finishes and my handmade clothes look like they were purchased in an upscale boutique.  Not to mention the unlimited possibilities a serger opens up in designing quilts and garments with decorative, exposed seams.

One thing that I have been pleased and amazed to discover and did not fully understand before getting this serger, is not just how much better it can make seams and finishes, but how incredibly FAST it is.  I can put a rolled hem in a skirt and take it from fresh cut edge to professional finished hem in literally 2 minutes!

Janome scores a home run again with their entry level sergers; they are really the best manufacturer of quality, affordable sewing machines and their sergers are legendary.  They have really done an amazing thing for the home sewist by producing these affordable entry model sergers and doing it in such an exceptionally user-friendly and high quality way.

My Janome serger was without a doubt the best money I have ever spent and thanks to this sweetie my sewing has improved a thousand percent!  I highly encourage you to take the plunge and order one of these sweet little babies and take your sewing to the next level.

Do NOT be intimidated by serging; just get a Janome machine and press the pedal and go- speeding along your sewing in so many ways you will soon wonder how you got along without it.

It appears that Janome designed an excellent entry level serger and "packaged" it in several slightly different housings and marketed them through different retailers under different model numbers.  These models include the 7034d Magnolia, which seems to have the smallest profile and the 3434d Juno, which is a bit wider at the base .

and the 9102d Harmony, which is just a bit more expensive, apparently because the housing was redesigned to simplify the thread paths.  This and the fact that the 9102d includes a video manual are the differences between this model and the others.

Any of these models will definitely be your best bet if you want a good, quality, user friendly serger for the minimal investment.  At these prices, which include quick shipping, any home sewist can afford to have a serger.

If you can afford to spend a little more money, the best serger on the market is the Janome 634d.

This machine could quickly take you from home sewist to professional seamstress.  I would describe the motor on the entry level machines like a honda civic; dependable and sturdy and a great and affordable way to get you where you want to go, whereas the 634d "drives" more like a Lexus, with more power and speed and a smoother ride.  This machine can also do a 2 thread stitch, whereas the entry models need at least 3 threads.  This model can also further save on thread, because it comes standard with 4 spool caps and nets, allowing you to use regular spools of thread as an alternative to serger cones.

This serger also has jet threading.  While Janome's excellent design has made threading the entry machines straightforward and simple, the fact is that while not difficult, it does take patience and attention to thread the loopers.

But with this Janome, you just push a button and -whoosh- the looper is magically threaded for you.

Janome is making the best machines (sewing machines and sergers) now, and this is not just my opinion but also that of many sewing machine repair specialists, whose opinions I sought before buying mine.

The Janome 634d is the best serger being manufactured today.

This machine used to retail for around $700, but luckily for us, serger prices have recently come way down.  If you look around on the web, or speak with anyone in the know, you will hear glowing reviews for this 5 star serger.  If you do,

please come back here and click through my link to buy it from Amazon, who has the best deal going on this machine.  Now is absolutely the best time to buy your serger!

Again, I thank you for buying yours through me!  I know you and your serger will have many happy years together!
